This group of talented men and women answer emergency calls 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Whether it's a house on fire, confined space, medical emergency, or anything in between, these highly skilled firefighters are ready to answer the call.

Prevention Division
The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for, fire investigations, fire safety education, and fire code-related enforcement related activities. This division's mission is to prevent the tragedy before it occurs as well as empower citizens and first responders with the tools to lessen the impact of emergencies in their communities.

How to Become a Firefighter with Jacksonville Fire & Emergency Services
- Apply online!
Go to jacksonvillenc.gov and complete application.
- Complete CASAS test
Once your application has been reviewed, one of our HR team members will contact you to schedule the CASAS test.
- Agility Test

- Interview Time!
Once you have successfully completed the CASAS and agility, it's time for your interview. Come dressed to impress and let us know why you want to be a part of our team!
- Chief's Interview
You're one step closer! Once recommended by the interview panel, you will have an interview with the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief.
- Job Offer
When the time is right, the Fire Chief will give you a job offer!
- Last Steps
Following the job offer, you will need to complete a background check, fingerprinting, drug screening, physical and psychological testing.
- You're Hired!
Once all background checks and other tests are complete, you'll start your training!
